AMA Victoria is guided by a Council of members nominated by AMA Victoria Subdivisions and Sections (groupings of members based on practice location and type of practice respectively) and Affiliated Organisations including the learned colleges.
Two independent members representing professional and academic interests are elected annually by postal vote.
AMA Victoria Council
- meets quarterly at AMA House
- is a forum for members to raise and discuss issues affecting the profession and patients
- is a forum to influence policy and activities via recommendation to the Board.
AMA Victoria Board
At the May Annual General Meeting the Council elects members to the Board of Directors including the Chair of Council and President.
The Board:
- meets monthly
- is responsible for governance of the organisation
- appoints the Chief Executive Officer.
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the day to day running of AMA Victoria and the delivery of services to members, Council and the Board.
