As the state’s peak body representing doctors across all sectors of the profession, AMA Victoria seeks to influence government policy and legislation on vital medical and health issues. Our priorities include:
- high quality medical education
- medical student numbers sufficient to meet future workforce demands
- recruitment of new doctors and retention of doctors in practice to address current workforce requirements
- equitable access to quality health services for all Victorians
- the safety and quality of patient care
- improvements to the Victorian public hospital system
- improvements to mental health services
- freedom of choice within the private health system
- promotion of public health initiatives to improve the health of Victorians
- support for the sustainability of general practice
- advancement of medical research.
